So it's almost Christmas time again, doesn't time fly! While we are all busy running around the shopping centre (or trawling through online websites) for the perfect gifts, we sometimes forget about the perfect food!
Well you don't have to worry, because these Sugar Free Candy Cane Cookies are the easiest Christmas treat you'll ever make, and they're less than 100 calories per serve. So sit tight and learn how to wow your guests this Christmas season with some sweet, sweet baking!
Step 1 - Add 8 tablespoons of soft Butter and 1/2 cup granulated Natural Sweetener to a large bowl. Use an electric beater to combine for 5 minutes and cream the butter until it is a light colour.
Step 2 - add 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract, 1 teaspoon of Peppermint Extract and 1 large egg to the bowl.
Use the electric beater to mix well again.
Step 3 - Add in 1 1/4 cups of All Purpose Flour, 1/2 + 1/8 teaspoon of Baking Powder and mix well. Add in the final 1/4 cup of All Purpose Flour and combine.
Step 4 - Divide the dough in two equal parts, adding to a separate bowl. Add in roughly 8 drops of Red Food Colouring into one of the bowls and mix until a consistent red colour throughout.
Step 5 - Roll one piece of white dough and one piece of red dough into long ropes, approximately 10-15cm in length. Roll the two pieces of dough together, before twisting and placing on a baking tray.
Repeat until all Candy Cane Cookies have been made. This recipe will make 16 cookies.
Step 6 - Bake in the oven for 10 minutes at 190 degrees Celsius.
Step 7 - Leave the cookies to cool for 2 hours before removing from the trays and serving.
Step 9 - Enjoy!
This recipe makes 16 servings, although feel free to make some more and add extra cookies for all of your family and friends to enjoy!
